Electric boilers are the most popular systems on the market. People believe that it is easier to pay for something that operates using electricity rather than trying to purchase a tank fuel or oil for a propane or other natural gas boiler. Sometimes though these units can become a money drainer. This is mainly due to the fact that we do not know how to operate it so that we conserve our money.
The biggest problem that people have when it comes to the montly electricity bills is that they do not turn off certain appliances. It is easy to blame the high bill on the amount of times you wash clothes or the fact that you have many televisions or other media electronics in the home.
If you look closely at the bill you will notice that during certain times of the year the price will spike. This is usually during the coldest and hottest months of the year. The parts of the year when we adjust the temperature in the home so much in order to make ourselves comfortable. The summertime is worse because the electric company will increase the rates
Before you leave the home for work everyday turn the air up to around 76 or 78 degrees. It is true that the home will be quite warm when you get back. However, there is no need to keep the house cold when no one is using the home for eight to ten hours during the day.
Rather than pushing the air down to 74 degrees turn on a ceiling fan. If this is not enough you can purchase a box fan to use in the bedrooms. These fans cost around $20 and use very little electricity to operate.
During the summer months the sun will be streaming in through the windows and making the home warmer than it needs to be. Install window awnings over the bedroom windows or keep the curtains and blinds closed during the day.
